Hospital Sant Joan de Déu Manresa, a leading centre of the Althaia Foundation, is one of the main healthcare facilities in Central Catalonia. Several refurbishment, extension and functional adaptation works were carried out within this hospital complex between 2018 and 2024, with the aim of improving quality of care, comfort and environmental sustainability.

Works were carried out over a period of 7 years in different phases, within a fully operational hospital environment, without interrupting services and in strict compliance with safety and hygiene protocols. The main interventions included the comprehensive refurbishment of the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit; the renovation of the hospital kitchen and staff dining area; the creation of new classrooms for the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Vic; the construction of new adult and paediatric Intensive Care Units (ICUs); and the upgrading of the Emergency Department.
