ADAPTATION OF THE CLASSROOM BUILDING TO A NEW EDUCATIONAL MODEL

Col·legi Montserrat

  • Refurbishment
  • Education

The project involves intervention in an existing building of Col·legi Montserrat, with the aim of refurbishing its classrooms and the associated external access, adapting them to a more open, collaborative teaching approach that is closely connected to the surrounding environment.

The intervention entailed a complete reconfiguration of the interior spaces, replacing conventional classrooms with a variety of flexible and interconnected learning environments. Natural light, transparency and visual connections were enhanced, while a new greenhouse-type external circulation route was created, acting as a climatic buffer and a space for social interaction. At the same time, all building services were upgraded to comply with current regulations, improving overall comfort, energy efficiency, safety and accessibility.

We have brought to fruition

Adaptation to a new educational model

  • The project intervenes in an occupied building, refurbishing the half-floor classrooms on the first floor and the associated external access. The spaces are adapted to an educational model based on flexible, cooperative and multipurpose learning environments.
  • The new interior layout enhances natural light, transparency and visual connections between the different learning environments. The greenhouse-type external route acts as a climatic buffer and meeting space, strengthening the relationship between interior and exterior.
  • All building services have been upgraded in accordance with current regulations, improving comfort, safety and accessibility. The sectorised VRV air conditioning system, together with the integration of ICT and audiovisual networks, meets the requirements of the new educational spaces.
