Terrace of Hotel Monument
The intervention focused on the adaptation and refurbishment of the rooftop terrace at Hotel Monument, a luxury establishment located in a late 19th-century palace on Barcelona’s Passeig de Gràcia. The main challenges were technical and logistical, as the works were carried out while the hotel remained fully operational.
From a construction standpoint, the project involved a comprehensive intervention on the roof, including the upgrading of building services, the adaptation of outdoor spaces and works on the upper level of the façade. The intervention addressed existing waterproofing pathologies and optimised energy performance, reorganising spaces and building services to meet the hotel’s new functional requirements.

The fulfilment of strict deadlines
- Aware of the complexity of working in a fully operational hotel in the heart of Passeig de Gràcia, our team completed the intervention in just 5 months. Through rigorous planning and execution, together with close coordination with the ownership and hotel management, deadlines were met while ensuring the level of quality expected by guests.
A reuse-based strategy
- Priority was given to reusing and maintaining elements in good condition, applying corrective solutions instead of unnecessary replacements. This strategy reduced transport needs, optimised schedules and resources, and minimised both the environmental and operational impact of the works.
Technical and construction management of the rooftop
- Review and repair of glazing with steel joinery (Jansen system).
- Upgrading of waterproofing, paintwork, flooring and structural elements of the swimming pool.
- Coordination with specialised suppliers and interventions in restricted-access areas.
- Volumetric modification of the rooftop.
- Complete replacement of the HVAC system and relocation of equipment.
