Building a new pedestrian bridge over the Besòs River

The new infrastructure will connect both banks of the river in the La Catalana district of Sant Adrià de Besòs, improving mobility and urban connectivity.

Constructora del Cardoner has commenced construction works on a new pedestrian-only bridge over the Besòs River, an intervention that forms part of the urban development of the La Catalana district in Sant Adrià de Besòs.

The bridge will improve connections between both sides of the Besòs River and contribute to the urban integration of one of the most significant transformation areas within the Barcelona metropolitan region.

The project includes the construction of a steel pedestrian bridge with a metallic structure spanning the Besòs River, incorporating specialised anchoring systems and integrated LED lighting.

The development has been promoted by the La Catalana Urban Development Board and forms part of the wider urban transformation of this new residential and economic activity district located alongside the Besòs riverfront.

From a construction perspective, one of the project’s most distinctive challenges is the execution of the foundations within the river environment itself, requiring precise planning and continuous coordination with environmental constraints, the surrounding urban development and municipal requirements.

With a budget exceeding €1.6 million, the new infrastructure will contribute to improving pedestrian mobility and strengthening connections between the urban areas located on both sides of the river.
